Now you guys know that I absolutely love love love White Ironstone, right? So, imagine my surprise when I rounded the corner and came upon this little lovely. She was just sitting there singing to me in the tune of one of the Beatles songs ( don’t remember the name of it (shoot!))
“My name is Sally and I’m a soup tureen, turn me over, I’m not from China”
So, of course I had to pick her up and study her and sure enough, she wasn’t from China. Just a wonderful old White Ironstone Soup Tureen with the ladle and everything – and you guessed it, I didn’t wait for the sale (there was a 50% off sale the next day at this thrift shop), I had to buy her!

I was reading one of my favorite blogs, (Miss Mustardseed), and Marion happened to have a newly painted hutch filled with Ironstone pictured on her blog today – fate? Me thinks so! Isn’t her hutch to-die-for? And her ironstone – Fabulous, of course! I see three large Tureens, and a couple smaller ones as well. And aren’t her pitchers sooo cool?
Ironstone Soup Tureens are often the centerpiece or a major piece in any Ironstone Collection. I found these to die for collections in a three minute search of Pinterest:
{Aren’t these collections amaaaaaazing?}
{Would I put away my wedding china and crystal in exchange for these pieces?}
{hummm, does the red and white French Toweling come with it?}
Anyway, I’m so happy to have found this awesome old Soup Tureen – If it doesn’t sell, maybe I’ll start my own collection and worry about what to do with my wedding china later!
Rhoda from Southern Hospitality (LOVE HER) showed this beautiful Ironstone collection from Linda at Coastal Charm on Memorial Day. I’m lovin those three pitchers, aren’t you? Hey, I have that ironstone gravy boat for sale in my store! I just noticed that (on my 20th proofing of this post).

I found lots of ironstone pieces while thrifting that day. 18 (Eighteen – I know right?) Johnson Brothers Swirl pattern cups. There were 18 cups, but no saucers to be found (locally that is – I did find matching saucers on EBay and some other places on the web). They are pretty aren’t they?
I’ve had these J&G Meakin English Ironstone Saucers for a long time. I absolutely love the barely there detail. There so romantic & feminine, don’t cha think?
What about you? Are you an Ironstone collector? Do you love White Ironstone as much as I do? If so, I’d love for you to send me a comment and a link to your collection. I’d love to share photos of your collections in my next Ironstone blog.
I’m putting together a blog on “Collections.” If you have a collection you’d like to share, I’d love to feature your lovelies. Just contact me and send me some photos.
Thanks for Reading!
