As you may know, I have an Etsy store where I sell Vintage Items. I have so enjoyed the store. It has allowed me to wander around thrift stores {one of my favorite, most healthy activities}, find treasures and offer them for sale. Well, the past 3 packages we shipped have been destroyed by the Post Office. My hubby, the shipper, is an engineer and that means he’s very detail oriented and very careful. We have double and even triple boxed these wonderful vintage items to make sure that they arrive in tact. We have marked each package fragile, etc.. The Post Office has broken them anyway.
Why don’t I use another carrier? Too expensive. One of the reasons that my store(s) have done as well as they did was that I kept the prices low for my customers. Charging a ton more for shipping and paying for custom boxes, etc. is just not what a smart business person would do. Therefore, I’m folding up shop - at least for the mainly glass, mostly fragile items I’ve loved.
Most of what I loved to write about in this blog, were the vintage items I found and loved . . . . . JBsVintage.
So, I need to re-think what will become of my blog and my business. If you are reading this, know that I appreciate it more than you will ever know. I’m going to take the next month or so to think about what changes I can make {if any} to keep my little business going. When I find the answer – you’ll be one of the firsts to know.
Merry Christmas {she said - remembering, now more than ever, the reason for the holiday – Jesus!} and God Bless You!
I love you guys!

Sorry to hear about your shipping problems. Were the items all about the same size or weight? I have had many fragile things shipped and really only had one problem. They only used those new air bags to help protect ceramic items, no individual bubble wrap on any of the items. When I picked up the package and heard it rattle I knew something was wrong.
It seems to me like there should be a way for you to ship your precious finds without them costing a fortune or having them get broken. I guess one easy way would be to offer a higher shipping cost for those you wish to pay for it. I will put on my thinking cap and see if I can think of something and hopefully one of your blogger friends will have a few ideas too.
Have a safe trip and Merry Christmas!
Oh my gosh! No way … you can’t give this up … you’re having too much fun and your customers are loving you. BOO USPS! There has to be a way to deal with this. As Pat says, putting on the thinking cap and figuring out the best way to handle this. Put a smile back on your face sweetie pie and have a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS. Tomorrow is another day Scarlett! I love you!!!!
So sorry to hear about this:( please don’t tell me your beloved pitcher got smashed!!!! I hope everything turns out for you!
Merry Christmas!
Wendy
Thank you so much Wendy – I appreciate your concern. Thankfully, it wasn’t my pitcher – I don’t know how I would have gotten over that! She’s safely on top of my little table in my foyer. We’ll keep in touch and I’ll let you know what the outcome is – in the meantime, you keep on painting that gorgeous furniture and making those beautiful wreaths!
That is a crying shame! I understand how you feel. I had a cookie business and had to stop shipping and go to local business only. A postal employee told me instead of marking things “fragile” I should have put “glass” otherwise, they don’t give a #@&*. Such a sad commentary on work ethics.
Good luck with the thinking. I hope it’s in front of a fireplace with hot chocolate!
No! Please don’t give up! Just found your Etsy shop and you have THE PERFECT item I MUST have for my new home!
Which item would that be? Thanks for the comment Stephanie!
