NEW YEAR – No Resolutions

Lady Gaga 2012 Times Square

Hope everybody had a great New Years celebration.  We don’t do much for New Years Eve – I’ve never liked to fight the crowds in bars, worry about other drivers, etc..  I did what I always do on New Years Eve – watch the ball drop on TV and head to bed.

Pretty Exciting – huh?  I think Lady Gaga’s mask had more sparkle than the ball this year, don’t you?  I did get up at midnight AZ time – sounds of

a.  fireworks

or

b.  someone shooting guns in the air

woke me up.  Let’s hope it was fireworks, but I really don’t think so.

So, how many people make resolutions to start the new year?  What does it say when you don’t make the same ole resolution (eat right, loose weight, etc.)?  I hope it means that I know that I don’t have to throw out every single piece of chocolate at the crack of dawn.  And, even if I do, that won’t make it more or less successful.  I just know that I have to do the lifestyle change and not the diet thing.  One day at a time.  Eat less, move more, etc.

I have been motivated by my Christmas presents from hubby.  Know what this is?

Suitcase?  Close, but no cigar.  It’s a carrier for my Sewing/Embroidery case.  Hubby got it for me so that I can haul my sewing machine to Joanne’s for classes.

Sooooo, I’ve been sewing a little.   Getting back into my embroidery machine.

Jeannie's Sewing Machine

I got it about 8 years ago, hubby knew I would need something to do while recuperating from major back surgery.  I’ve always loved to sew ever since I took home-ec in Jr. High (I think just saying those two words kind of date’s me – anybody else go to Jr. High?).

Had to buy this fabric from fabric.com.  Don’t ya love it?

red white and blue fabric

We won’t even go into all of the patterns I bought on January 1st at Joannes – they were on sale for $1.00 (normally $18.95 if not on sale) – I saved so much $$!

Anyway, here are a couple of things I’m working on now:

Embroidery - wine glasses

These will make cute napkins – the design is from the Kitchen Art collection by inspira.

Cupcake Wall Decoration

This will be a Cupcake shaped Wall Decoration for Miss Brenna’s room.  Her Mom &  Chris did such a fabulous job redecorating her room – it looks just like a spread in a Better Home & Gardens mag.  Anyway, Nanna (that would be me) is adding some things to the wall for Valentine’s Day.

Well, that’s what I’ve been doing.  I’ve been adding a few items to my Etsy stores.  Sold a couple of items that I had been using to decorate – kind of miss them already!

I’d love to know what you’ve been doing!  Leave me a comment and let me know.

My Attitude is one of Gratitude:

  • Got news that the Dr. told Pammie Sue (my beautiful sister-in-law) that the stem cell transplant is working!  Thank you God, for prayers heard and answered.
  • I am so thankful that I live such a blessed life in soooo many ways,  I thank Jesus for this blessing every day.

Thank you so much for reading (I’d love it if you joined!)

Twas the night after Christmas (2011) . . . .

I looked forward to this Christmas Day (yesterday) for so long!  Every day since we got home from Florida (Dec. 2, 2011) has been spent decorating or shopping or cooking or wrapping or all of the above in preparation for the big day(yesterday).     My husband’s parents visited a lot when our kids were…

Charlotte Genevieve Mitchell – It’s a Girl!

I am so thankful today for Charlotte (her Mom says we will call her Charlie).  My youngest, Angela (sometimes referred to as Angelina  or Pastry Chef) is 19.5 weeks pregnant and had an ultrasound yesterday showing that our Charlie is a girl.  You should have seen the grin on hubby’s face when he found out…

Hi guys.   One good thing about this Christmas is that I have a little more time to decorate the house.  So, I bought some canvas  fabric and I wanted to make a banner.  You know, the kind that is all the rage on the DIY and crafting blogs.  Here is an example:  …

One Question Answered

Vintage Coke Ice Chest

Ciao ( pronounced “chow”),  my mind was wandering down a path just wondering what the Italian word for Hello was.  Turns out it’s Ciao – who knew?  I thought Ciao was generally used in the same way as we use “bye” or “goodbye”.  Anyway {see how my mind works – always entertaining!}, Hello! We’ve had an interesting…

The Question Is . . . .

cricut nursery

Hello, welcome back.  So in the last post, I talked about what I really like to do and want to do (refinish, refurbish, resell, etc.), and the reality of what I can do. So The Question Is . . . . what do I do next?  I want  to find the mother-load of vintage…

Real Girl voice?

Clock

As you can tell by reading some of my previous blogs,  I love to find vintage items that I can clean up, refurbish, refinish or recycle and then re-sell.  I love shabby chic, cottage chic and beach cottage chic. My greatest wish of all is to find a cozy little beach house that I can…

Front Deck

So, this is our 14th year living in Beautiful Prescott, AZ.  We really do love living here and I am so in love with my “Country Cottage”  since we remodeled the whole house (I don’t recommend it and I’ll never do that again – just sayin…). Our neighborhood feels like it’s out in the middle…
